What is Projection Transformation +
WWhat is Project Transformation PLUS?
This is a week-long mission for students and adults where we earn the right to share Jesus with those in need by meeting a physical need in the life. This is done through work projects in which our teams go out and build wheelchair ramps, build fences, small construction projects, or do yard work for folks in our community who are in need or elderly.
Arrive at the Family Life Center (FLC) of FUMC Chandler at 4:00p on Sunday, July 26. Pick up is 11:00a on Saturday, August 1 from the FLC.
We will stay at FUMC Chandler! During the day, teams will go to their work sites locally in the Chandler/Brownsboro areas. We will eat and worship at the FLC.
Incoming 7th grade through adults!
$100 for students, fee is waived for adults since most will need to take time off work in order to participate.
We will stay overnight at the church! Plan on bringing air mattresses with bedding, pillows, blankets, cots, sleeping bag, whatever you want to use to sleep on. Girls will sleep in the FLC and the boys will sleep in the Heritage Hall! We will need adults to stay at the church as well to help. I’m wanting to make this as much like any of our other missions as possible. I know many memories and team bonding happens when you spend the week with your work teams!
We will have host homes where each of the teams will go to a church member’s home to take showers at the end of the work day, before going back to the church for dinner, worship and games.
On Sunday, everyone will get to the church, students and adults staying at the church will set up our air up mattresses, cots, or whatever you bring to sleep on, have dinner, worship, games and we find out who is on our teams and what projects the teams will be working on.
Monday through Friday, we will wake up have a devotion, breakfast and pack lunches, waters, tools and materials, then our teams head out to the work sites for the day. That afternoon, teams will pack up their sites, head to their shower homes, then back to the church for dinner, games, and worship before bed.
Saturday, we will get up have devotion, breakfast and clean up the church, pack our things, and get picked up from the FLC at 11:00a
Be aware that since we will be staying overnight at the church, there will be no way for us to enforce social distancing. When you arrive, we will take participant’s temperatures and you will be required to fill out forms regarding COVID-19 risk. One is stating that you or anyone in your household has not had fever or been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, the other is acknowledging you understand that you are taking a risk by sending your child to this overnight mission. In order to reduce risk, during meals, participants will be served their plates (no buffet style) and any food that they can grab themselves will be in single serve sealed packages. Hand sanitizer will be placed throughout our facility as well as sent with each work team. Work teams will also be responsible for cleaning a certain area of the church facility each day.
Adults: What’s required of me?
At least two Work Team Adults will lead a team of students on their job sites. We will provide materials, but please bring any tools you might need. We do have some tools available for teams to use, but we do not have enough to provide all teams with every tool they will need. We will do our best to let you know what kind of projects you will be doing ahead of time so you can bring whatever you have at home that you might want to use. We also have skilled adults who are there to assist if you aren’t sure what the next step is on a project. We would like for you to be at the church with the students overnight if at all possible. I understand this is quite the commitment, however our Work Team Adults are essential to making this mission happen! I promise you will go home at the end of the week tired, but you will also go home blessed from helping those who could use Jesus! Even though we are still in our home town, I would love to make this as much like an out of town mission experience as possible! This is a definitely a mission experience that many who have gone to missions similar to this, can’t wait to join us on the next one! Also, I’m aware that means some will have to miss a week of work because of this mission week. That’s why we only have the $100 fee for students only. The fee will be waived for our adults since this mission cannot happen without your help!
